A prayer to she who haunts the grasslands: May your howl bring Ezo’s enemies to their knees. May we live to see your revenge complete. I offer you my dyes, the color of fire and blood, if your spirit deems me worthy. I await by the Stone Jaw Coast.

Before your rest, gaze upon the castle with spyglasses from foreign lands. Know that when the demons fall, nature will remain.

Bow to no one: Clan Matsumae does not care about us. They only play nice so our resources don’t go to repair the Oni’s damn castle. We came here to be beyond the reach of any lord. Samurai, raiders… they’re all the same.

From Lord Saito: When I was a child, my father sent me to live with a rival clan - as their hostage. He wiped the tears from my face and told me to have the strength and courage of a tiger. Now, I wear a tiger on my back. A reminder that we must lose everything to find our true selves. That is why I’m writing these words. So you may know Nariaki Saito-not only as a lord, but as a man.

Hot Spring note: These waters offer you warmth and relief. Light the fires, and provide the same for the beasts of this land.

Message from the Oni Raiders: Fire has arrived at Ishikari Plain. We have taken your ports. We have taken your lumberyards and farms. We have taken the lives of those who would oppose us. Submit, or burn in the Oni’s wrath.

NOTICE FROM THE ONI: Any students of Sensei Takahashi will face the wrath of the Oni Raiders!

Pick up orders: Orders have been dispatched to the Alpine Tundra hideout. Destroy once read.

Reliquary of Strength: The mountain raised the boy as her own. Demons looked away from them in fear. But the wolf watched them both, ready to provide aid.

Rescue Prisoners: Find and rescue the captured prisoner, the fight together to defeat Saito’s soldiers.

Resist!: The Oni Raiders have burned our homes, but the Matsumae are fighting back. They are building a bridge to welcome reinforcements. We need to hold on. We cannot go down without a fight!

Saito (1): From Lord Saito: When I was a child, my father sent me to live with a rival clan-as their hostage. He wiped the tears from my face and told me to have the strength and courage of a tiger. Now, I wear a tiger on my back. A reminder that we must lose everything to find our true selves. That is why I'm writing these words. So you may know Nariaki Saito-not only as a lord, but as a man.

Saito (2) on Grief: There is no greater burden than grief. It changes your perspective on life... and what you are capable of. After my wife and daughter died, I tried everything to feel close to them. I wrote poetry. I sang songs. I painted their portraits so as not to forget their faces... But if their spirits can hear me, they do not answer. I am left with only a heavy silence. And my shame. Lord Saito.

Saito (3) on the Shogun: We are all victims of the Shogun. Cast out. Deemed unwanted. He thought to kill us, but he failed. Ezo's beauty lies in its wild freedom. The Shogun fears what he cannot control. He would make this land a cage. I will die before I allow that to happen. - Lord Saito

Saito (4) on Being Hunted: While still grieving my wife and daughter, I was forced to keep my sons and the remnants of our clan on the move. The bounty hunters were relentless. One in particalur, Hanbei-a dual katana master- hounded us day an night. I challenged him to a duel to put an end to it. I could have killed him. Instead, I took his arm. Now, he is the one who is hunted. - Lord Saito

Saito (5) on Clan Matsumae: Do not be fooled by clan Matsumae's promise to bring order to Ezo-they are here to expand the Shogun's reach and make themselves rich. Already they limited our travel, demand permits, and force settlers to build unwanted checkpoints. We must fight back or Ezo as we know it will not exist for our children. - Lord Saito.

Saito (6) on Betrayal: Master Kengo was an unmatched swordsmith, but more than that, he was my friend. Kengo was the first to welcome me home after years of being a hostage. He forged the very sword I am using to defend Ezo. So when he deserted me as my wife and children were starving... and convinced so many others to leave... I took no pleasure in the Night of the Burning Tree, but I don't lose sleep over it. - Lord Saito

Scrap of paper: To live with demons. Sacrifices must be made. Like shitting alone.

Technique - Attacks: STANDOFF STREAK: After a successful Standoff, 1 enemy will rush in and open themselves to a killing blow. Wait until the enemy attacks, then press [triangle] or [square] to deal a devastating strike. Grants extra Spirit on success.
